2IN1 is a foldable bike that intends to help reduce traffic congestion, and vehicle emission, providing a useful alternative for commuters who want to augment personal or public transportation choices especially in the newly booming satellite communities in major Chinese cities. Instead of being limited by other foldable bikes, driver can enjoy both the efficiency of the normal size bike and the portability of the scooter via 2in1.
1 Background
+ Satellite community (SC) covers 5~20 square km, with 50000~200000 middle / low income inhabitants.
+ Till 2003, 14 SCs are located on the verge of Beijing city, connecting to urban center 10 ~ 30 kilometers away by subway, freeway and highway.
+ It's a new mode for living. Dwellers go to the center for work, education, shopping and entertainment. SC is only for sleeping. For this reason, Satellite Community (SC) is also called "Sleeping Community”.

3 Problems of current transportation means
+ Time consuming between living community in SC and work place at urban center
+ Traffic congestion on highway/freeway during rush hours
+ High cost on everyday used motor vehicle
+ Inconvenience for frequent transfer + Poor roadway condition inside newly-established SCs
+ Air pollution resulted from excess use of private vehicles
4 Solutions to current transportation problems
Long-distance public bus/subway + Flexible personal bike (foldable bicycle)

+ Normal sized foldable bike is too large to be taken with or fit in a car trunk
+ Mini foldable bike is both time and energy consuming for riders
+ Either portability or efficiency has to be compromised

7 Conclusion
Opportunities for 2in1 design is brought on by the frustrations exposed from user observation and the specific need of "satellite community- urban center" commuters due to the differences between satellite community and urban center above, solutions for some middle/low income SC inhabitants can be : Scooter <-> Highway/freeway/subway <-> Normal Size Bicycle
For one thing, normal size bikes can be used universally without usability sacrifice which is necessary for moving in urban center; for another thing, scooter is flexible to take away by individuals, and the scooter itself can function very well inside satellite community, so there is no need using normal size bike inside satellite community
